In this session, you will learn the difference between Azure SQL Database, Elastic Pools, Managed Instances, and Hyperscale. You will learn how to secure your data utilizing the PaaS features. You will learn how to make sure your users have a great experience while saving as much money as possible.
First impressions have long-lasting effects. When dealing with an architecture change like migrating to Azure SQL Database the last thing you want to do is leave a bad first impression. In this session, you will learn the difference between Azure SQL Database, Elastic Pools, Managed Instances, and Hyperscale. You will learn how to test migrations for compatibility issues before you start the migration process. You will learn how to secure your data utilizing all the PaaS features. Finally, you will learn how to determine which performance
tier is a good starting point for your existing workload(s) and how to monitor your workload over time to make sure your users have a great experience while you save as much money as possible. 1. Learn how to get started using Azure SQL Database weather you are building an application or migrating an application.
2. Learn how to secure your data with minimal configuration changes utilizing native features included with Azure SQL Database 3. Learn how to monitor and tune your performance to lower your spend by utilizing less compute resources.

John’s experience leading large technical teams in complex environments has made him a
global expert in performance and scalability. He has managed architectures with up to 1000
servers and is known for his expertise in SQL Server and related technologies. John speaks at
conferences around the world on database strategy and topics related to performance tuning,
developing and cloud computing. He is a certified Microsoft MCSE: Data Platform and former
Microsoft MVP. He is the Principal consultant and founder at Procure SQL.
